When a shared link opens a page instead of downloading
The shared link opens a preview page because it is a web page, not a direct file; open the service's own page, use its Download button to get the file, or copy a direct media or page URL that the link tool can read, and note that private links requiring sign-in cannot be bypassed.
Open the Link Downloader — free →Google Drive, Dropbox, and similar services share a page with a preview, buttons, and sign-in checks. A downloader needs a URL that returns the file itself or a page it can parse. A preview URL often returns HTML, so the tool saves or opens the page instead of the media.
Get the file from the service first. In Google Drive, open the shared item and use Download. In Dropbox, open the preview and choose Download. If the link asks for sign-in, the file is private; this tool cannot access it without credentials.
1. Open the shared link in a browser. 2. If a preview page appears, click the service's Download button and save the file. 3. If you need to use the link tool, copy the direct URL from the service's download or open-original control, not the address of the preview page. 4. Paste that URL into the link tool's URL field. 5. Click Fetch or Download. 6. If it opens a page again, the URL is still not direct; use the service's own download instead.
Private or sign-in-only links are not supported; we cannot bypass access controls. Some services use temporary links that expire. The tool can only read URLs it is allowed to fetch, and a preview page is not the same as a file.

What happens to my file?
It is processed in a temporary folder and deleted the moment your download finishes. Nothing is stored or shared.
